Avoid long hot showers and harsh and drying cleansers like Ivory, Irish Spring, or Lever 2000.
Apply fragrance-free moisturizer like Vanicream immediately after shower to damp skin. Reduce itch with OTC antihistamines like Zyrtec. For break-through itch, oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and/or Sarna lotion can be added. Irritating environmental factors should be avoided; stress reduction may be useful.
