I had my anatomy Scan yesterday @ 22 weeks and was told my cervix was funneling but that my cervix measured 32. Should I be worried about preterm labor? My doc said she will check cervical length again in 4 weeks. I am afraid that that is too long to wait

Its not too worrisom. Despite the funnel, a cervical length of 32 mm is still pretty long, and suggestive that your risk of preterm birth is not substantially elevated. Rechecking it in 4 weeks is reasonable but it is not a strongly dangerous finding. The most important finding is closed length, and a 32 mm length at 22 weeks is fine. Read more...

I am sorry. Sorry to hear of your miscarriage. Without and exam, it would be tough to tell you if you had an incompetent cervix, vs whether or not it was pre-term labor. Miscarriages are unfortunately more common that you would have thought, until you have one and realize how many other couples had one too. I have personal friends who have had miscarriages and we never found out any definitive reasons.G-bless. Read more...

Happens in pregnancy. quite common occurrence. You can have contractions without cervical dilation and thats ok. If the cervix starts to shorten or dilate, you may need steroids to help boost the babies lungs/brain etc. For now, lots of hydration and rest at home Best wishes Dr M. Read more...

I had a preterm labour at 20 weeks Cervix was 4 CM a week back and 2 CM after water break. I had pains How will I know Cervix incompetent or true labor?

Incompetent cervix. Silent dilatation of the cervix exposes the waterbag to bacteria in the vagina. This in turn triggers contractions on the one hand, and causes the water bag to break on the other. Many facts in the processes of preterm labor and incompetent cervix are still unknown, which is why we don't have definitive treatment. Read more...
Painless Dilation. The diagnosis of incompetent cervix is best made by your Ob/Gyn; however, the general idea is that you have painless cervical dilation before painful labor. Most Ob/Gyns now recommend progesterone supplementation in pregnancy if you have had a prior pre-term birth. Best wishes! Read more...
