Is clonazepam better than Ambien (zolpidem) for sleep in terms of side effects?

Understand. They have the same exact mechanism of action. Ambient better for initiation, Clonazepam better for maintaining. Both will result in dependence and rebound insomnia with prolonged use. Also there will be increased irritability 12-24 hrs later.
Both are effective. Clonazepam can help you to fall a sleep fast and maintain the sleep longer. Hence, have less fatigue in the morning. Ambien (zolpidem) is a prescription drug for the short-term treatment of insomnia. It is a short-acting nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic. Rec. See your pcp for more information and proper treatment that will address your needs.

Dr just added 25 mg of trazadone for sleep...does this make sense rather than add ambien (zolpidem) or go up on klonopin?

Yes. Trazodone is a an antidepressant which is often added at bedtime for it's sedating effect to help insomnia. It is non-addicting, therefore preferred for longer term use. The 25 mg dose is low and reasonable. Your mood may also improve. Hope this helps. Read more...

Sleep doc switched me from ambien (zolpidem) to ambien (zolpidem) cr. I told him ambien (zolpidem) wasn't working any longer. He also put me back on Trazodone 150 which I told him stopped working in sept. Kept me on klonopin 1 mg. Confused by his actions?

Insomnia. I understand your need to have good sleep. Trazodone is a medication for Depression, Klonopin for Anxiety, Ambien (zolpidem) and Ambien (zolpidem) CR for sleep problem which loses its effectiveness after 3-4 weeks. Medications ineffectiveness indicates need for Diagnosis, Therapy by a Psychiatrist for stresses in life which could be relationship, marriage, separation, unresolved painful feelings; medication as needed. Insomnia causing migraines to act up I got botox injections yesterday, is it safe to combine Ambien (zolpidem) xanex and klonopin to try and get good night sleep?

Bad idea. Mixing these medications increase sedation and drowsiness. Combination of these 3 drugs increases risk of CNS (central nervous system) depression, possible breathing crisis and death. See sleep disorders specialist (neurologist) for evaluation, diagnosis and proper treatment. Be safe and call your doctor. Read more...

Ambien (zolpidem) ok? U mentioned ambien (zolpidem) (zolpodem, a hypnotic) was rx'ed by your doc, so it does seem that the doc who knows you best believes this to be "ok". If you have questions, always feel free to ring & clarify. Overtime, continued use of ambien (zolpidem) can cause tolerance, but that doesnt mean it isn't the best option for u now. habits like a regular bedtime, bed for sleep & sex only, am exercise can help too :) Read more...
Hmmm. You probably won't overdose. But consider the following: you are already tolerant and perhaps experiencing nighttime rebound from clonzepam. What will you do when the same occurs with the Ambien (zolpidem)? Read more...
Addiction. I speak frankly here on Heath tap. It appears you are on the most dangerous scripts you can be on as an addict. Incompetent professionals can easily be manipulated into giving patients these dangerous medications. It is not in any way a safe or wise prescription to have you on three sedatives at once. I use the word addict because three sedatives at once is diagnostic. Please get clean. Read more...

Is Zolpidem/ambien adctive? What are the benefits and side effects in comparison to clonazepan? Which one should I use for insomnia and ansiety?

Both. Zolpidem has been shown to be addictive and is not used to treat anxiety - only insomnia. Clonazepam is also addictive and can make you drowsy but is not terribly effective at treating sleep disorders. It can help with anxiety. Both medications are hard to get off of and if there is any way to avoid them, I would. Try relaxation, yoga, exercise and weight loss, dietary changes...anything else. Read more...
