Sore throat for 7 days, no fever, no rash, headache, mouth pain. Strep throat? Hiv? Started zithromax today.

Zithromax ? One further comment on the use of zithromax for upper respiratory tract infections. In 2000, a study of antibiotic efficacy for acute bacterial sinusitis demonstrated that azythromycin (zithromax) has no effect against nthi (non-typable hemophilus influenza). It is a very appropriate drug for some cases of lower respiratory infections. H.Flu is a very common cause of ear and sinus infections.
Likely not HIV. The most likely causes of a sore throat include a viral upper respiratory infection or allergies. Strep throat is also a potential cause, and that's likely why you were prescribed zithromax. Hiv would be way down on the list of possible causes, especially as a presenting symptom. If you are concerned that you are at risk for hiv, share that with your physician and see if you should be tested.

I am experiencing sore throat headache throbbing sensation fever pain when swallowing. Doc said its Pharyngitis gave me Azithromycin but its worst now?

Probably viral. Pharyngitis usually is a viral infection, and viruses do not respond to antibiotics. Your doctor probably prescribed azithromycin in case it's strep, but if not, it's not surprising your symptoms are continuing and even getting worse. Check back with your doctor, but probably you'll just have to wait it out. Aspirin or ibuprofen (or related meds) may help control pain. Good luck! Read more...

Is strep throat a symptom of HIV? M-M contact. No penetration. Possible saliva contact with anus. 6 days later, sore throat. Tested + for strep throat

Test for HIV. Strep throat is not a sign of HIV, but acute HIV infection can also announce itself as a bad sore throat from which strep may grow. It sounds like your contact was safe, it's too early to be sick from HIV from the guy, and as a grown man you should test for HIV yearly. Many, perhaps most, men do a little safe exploring with a friend at some time. I hope you'll value what happened, and love safely. Read more...

5days ago I gave a blow job & now I started feeling sick bones are sore, stiff neck, fever, sore throat, shaking, sweating at night, bumps on tongue. Culture showed strep. Can it really be hiv? Or of it was hiv the culture wouldn't show strep

HIV vs Strep. HIV RNA , Rapid antibody test – would likely not give a positive for HIV within 5 days of contact. A culture that is positive for strep means that the bacteria was actually grown out. That means that it was not HIV that was grown. You can be tested separately for HIV. Read more...

I got moderate to severe sore throat what is the signs of strep throat without tonsils I don't have a fever yet I wasn't exposed to strep?

Symptoms of Strep. Strep throat symptoms include sore throat without cough/runny nose, rapid onset of symptoms, pain with swallowing, temperature over 101, swollen lymph nodes, and white spots on the tonsils. Same as with. There is plenty of tissues within the throat, including residual lymph gland tissue, to get sore during a throat infection. Removal of tonsils does not eliminate risk of strep throat but can reduce intensity. Symptoms are the same. Since 5-10% of people carry strep year round with no symptoms you are likely exposed pretty often. Only a proper evaluation with strep test can sort this out. Read more...
