In brief: Lots of Vaseline

Wipe around the penis till healed.
Apply lots of petrolatum (vaseline) to the penile glans with each diaper change until penis has healed and until ring has fallen off if a plastibell device was used.

In brief: Leave it alone

At first, right after the circ, cover the end with petroleum jelly and gauze.
After it heals, you can pretty much leave it alone.

In brief: Use Vaseline jelly

After the "foreskin" has been cut off, the wound area is a little oozy with a slight amount of blood and sticky material.
For about 3 days, the parent can put some vaseline on the wound so the end of the penis doesn't stick to the diaper. Also, put some 4x4-inch gauze cloth around penis before closing the diaper (so less or no poop will get on the penis). After 3-4 days, no special care needed.

In brief: Vasoline

Circumcisions generally heal very quickly.
Put vasoline on with each diaper change for 3-4 days. The penis tip will look very red and inflammed, this is normal. Lots of bleeding or foul smelling pus is not- so if you see this see your md.

In brief: Keep it clean!

For the first few days, cover the penis with gauze and vaseline.
Each time you change the diaper, make sure there is no stool on the penis; if so, clean it with gauze and water. Replace the gauze and vaseline. If the head is not visible, push down at the base to ensure the foreskin heals to the shaft. A yellow discoloration is normal. Call your doctor if there is pus, fever, or active bleeding.
