Do people have better luck with concerta or strattera (atomoxetine) for ADHD children?

In brief: Depends

The stimulants which include Concerta are still the gold standard of treatment for adhd.
Strattera (atomoxetine) is effective but may not be for all patients. There is a subset of patients who for one reason or another are not candidates for stimulant tratment and may benefit from strattera (atomoxetine) and other non stimulants.

In brief: ?

There are no good comparison studies between the two medications.
Treatment should be individualized to maximize response and minimize side effects. The real question is not which one works better in add, but which one works better for a particular individual with add. Sometimes physicians will try parents on both medications separately and continue the one that produces the best outcome.

In brief: Strattera (atomoxetine) 2nd tier

Strattera (atomoxetine) is a 2nd line medication for ADHD.
the first are the stimulants methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta) and amphetamines (Adderall and Vyvanse). Stimulants have a faster onset of action and are easier to titrate, find the best effective dose. They also have fewer side effects. Strattera (atomoxetine) may be helpful for aDHD with anxiety. May take weeks to find best dose.

In brief: Strattera (atomoxetine)

Usually Concerta, due to quicker onset of action.

I gave up on strattera years ago. Half of my patients developed pretty bad agitation on this. Stimulants are still the gold standard.
