Apparently my 96 yo aunt is finally getting mostly gray hair. What condition could cause this?

In brief: Grey hair=OLD age

Do you mean 'she is just now getting grey hair' then i call that : good genes! when hair turns grey to white what is happenning is: the hair is losing pigment (melanin) , which is the normal aging process.
