What is botox?

Botox works because. Botox is used to relax muscles that cause wrinkles when they move. Usually it is a superficial muscle and it typically involves the facial muscles. Since wrinkles are the result of repeated movement, Botox can also creat smoother skin at rest. The trick is to give enough to smooth but not so much that there is no expression. Gives a 3-4 month affect.
Botox. Botox is a medication consisting of a purified protein product of the bacteria clostridium botulinum. Botox like so many other medications has been purified from a protein found in nature. When used at the appropriate injectable doses, Botox has a very consistent & predictable effect on target tissues in the body (muscles and sweat glands).
Protein. Botox is a purified version of the toxin that is produced by the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulism toxin. When a person or animal is infected with botulism in the wild it causes paralysis. When the purified protein is used for medical applications it causes paralysis of specific muscles or groups of muscles.
Natural Protein. Botox is similar to penicillin in the sense that it is found in nature as a product created by another organism, and the product can be purified and used to our benefit when used appropriately.
Purified toxin. Botox is the brand name for onabotulinumtoxin a which is made and marketed by allergan. There are other types of onabotulinumtoxin available. Basically, its an ultrapurified derivative of the bacteria clostridium botulinum that is used to treat many medical and aesthetic conditions.
Botox. Botulinum toxin is made by a naturally occurring bacteria. It is purified in the lab and the serotype, a, is produced as a powder which is sterilly supplied in a bottle to the doctor who then mixes it with sterile saline.
Botox. Botox is one of a group of protein poisons made by the bacterium that causes botulism. Carefully administered in humans it causes selective, temporary muscle paralysis by sticking to the nerve where it joins the muscle and keeping the nerve from causing the muscle contraction. The results are temporary and safe if administered by professionals using approved product.
Neuromuscular block. Botox is a protein molecule that binds and prevents muscles from contracting. This allows Botox to reduce the wrinkles caused by muscle movement.
Weakens muscles. Botox is a purified protein that weakens muscles in areas that it is injected. Cosmetic Botox can be used on the face for the forehead, between the brows, crows feet, the lower face and neck. It last 3-6months. You can not do it if you are pregnant or breast feedin.
Botox. Botox is a cosmetic injectable that reduces the appearance of creases between the brows, on the forehead, and around the eyes and mouth. More recently, it's been used to decrease excessive sweating in the armpits and palms. Botox is temporary with results lasting 3-4 months in most facial areas, and 2-3 months around the mouth.
Wrinkle treatment. Botox is a safe and effective treatment for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe facial lines, as well as for excessive sweating disorders, muscle contraction, and migraine headaches.
How Botox works. Botox works by interfering with the signal that a nerve cell send to a muscle to contract. So when a tiny amount of Botox is injected into the skin, the "contract" signal is stopped and the muscle relaxes. Eventually new connections are formed between nerve and muscle and contractions are resumed. That's why Botox injections need to be repeated every 3-4 months to maintain effect.
Botox. Botox is a drug derived from bacterial neurotoxin produced by a bacteria called clostridium botulinum. This toxin in nature causes botulism, a potentially fatal disease. In minute concentrations it can be used to stop muscle spasms, reduce facial wrinkles, and treat various other neuromuscular problems.
Agree with Previous. Also, note that Botox has a powerful homing characteristic for the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) that probably travels along the course of peripheral nerves. This feature probably accounts for some of the central effects of Botox which helps headaches far beyond the muscle effects.
Botox is a brand... of botulinum toxin type A, a purified substance that's derived from the bacteria that causes botulism. Other common brands include Xeomin and Dysport. Botox is temporarily effective at diminishing certain facial wrinkles by blocking muscular nerve impulses (which actually weakens the muscle so that it can't contract). https://www.cosmeticsurg.net/procedures/botox-injections/
Onabotulinum toxin A. Botox is a botulinum toxin, onobotulinumtoxina, that causes paralysis of the muscles it is injected into and around. This is a temporary paralysis that typically last around three months.
Botox. Botox is a purified protein that, when injected into muscles, causes muscles to relax. This leads to decreased wrinkling in the skin over the treated muscle and a smoother appearance to the skin.
Muscle relaxer. Botox is a "toxin" produced by a bacteria. The same toxin is found in botulism food poisoning. The toxin causes the muscle to relax. Massive doses can be dangerous, but when used for cosmetic purposes, it is very safe. When injected precisely into muscles that we use to frown, it stops the frowning motion and softens the lines caused by frowning. It does not do anything directly to the skin.
Botox - Cosmetic. Botox started with medical applications, such as muscle spasms of the arms and legs. Cosmetic application came afterward. Botox treatment is provided in the office to help relax facial muscles that contribute to wrinkles. Common treatment areas include in-between the eyebrows and forehead. Results develop over a few days and last for months.

If all else fails... Botox for interstitial cystitis or painful bladder is considered when standard treatments have failed. Botulinum toxin paralyzes muscles, but (surprising to me) there is evidence it may also have some effect on sensory nerves as well.
