What does the cervical facet joints do in your neck? What kind of injection does a doctor give for radiculopathy? Please help and explain

Spine Joints. Facet joints are places on the spinal bones where two bones actually meet and articulate, therefore a facet joint injection is into that place where they meet. Many times arthritis or inflammation can arise here and cause pain. Epidural injections are also helpful to reduce inflammation into the spinal canal area or around the spinal nerve roots exiting the spine to treat a radiculopathy.
Cervical facets. The 2 facet joints are 2 of the 3 moving parts of each level of the spine. The disc is the 3rd. These joints protect the spine and spinal cord from abnormal motion or translation. If the facet joint were to fracture or "break", it could lead to damage of the nerves/spinal cord. Facet injections are done to help with inflammation in the joint by injecting steroid in the same way you have knee shot.
