What health precautions should parents take before sending a child to summer camp?

In brief: Thing to consider

Make sure your child´s immunizations are up to date.
Have a good physical exam prior several weeks prior so you can discuss any concern with your child´s doc. If there is any medical history, be sure to mention it on the health form, no matter how trivial it might seem to you. If your child takes any medication, make sure it is a fresh prescription with instructions clearly labeled.

Although only indirectly related to physical health it may be important to chat with your child about interactions with the other children at camp and reassure them about their own sense of worth. Teasing at these camps can create much distress.
