Variable. Some are easier to pass than others (gonorrhea) while some require more contact (hpv).Sometimes a carrier is not actively shedding the germ so they would not be contagious at the time.

I had STD testing last week, haven't had any sexual contact in 2 years. My test results are. HSV1 ab <.090 and HSV 2 AB <0.90. Am I clear?

Negative. Those results are negative, indicating you are not infected with HSV1 or HSV2. However, up to 30% of people with HSV1 do not test positive, so you could still have it.
