Some types of lipoproteins which are carried in the blood can lead to fatty deposits in the arteries and these fat deposits or fatty streaks can lead to narrowing in the arteries.
This narrowing causes decreased blood flow and can occur in the heart, brain, intestines or anywhere. These narrowings in the heart can cause angina, or chest pain, or a heart attack due to complete blockage.
