In brief: Hip Problem
This is a problem that can occur in children around ages 4-8.
Boys are more commonly effected than girls. It is caused by a problem with blood flow to the top of the femur leading to necrosis of the bone. Would often cause hip pain.

In brief: Avasc. necrosis hip
Perthes disease in acute phase affects children usually 3-12 years with peak at 5-7 yrs.
More common in boys. 3.5:1.Decreased blood supply to femoral head causes fracture and deformity. Phases of fragmentation and fattening of femoral head when recovered can leave deformity. Adults who had problem as child can have arthritis from residual deformity.Sometimes hip replacements are necessary.

Orthopedic Surgery - Pediatric
In brief: Idiopathic avn
Lcpd is idiopathic avn of the femoral head (in english death of the bone in the ball of the hip) it most often happens in thin boys between the ages of 5-8.
The goals of treatment are to maintain a round femoral head that is contained within the hip socket. This may involve stretching casting even surgery. Some remodeling can be expected and the prognosis is better with younger children.
