What do I do if my baby is still waking in the night to feed?

In brief: Reset the clock

After the newborn period babies can slip into the habit of becoming trained nighttime feeders.
One of the ways to interrupt that pattern is to offer a small amount of water to older babies. That will quench their thirst but not perpetuate the habit of eating at night. Some babies will become upset so be prepared the first several nights to "go through withdrawals" as you reset the hunger time clock.

In brief: Keep it simple

Babies who are still nursing or feeding at night after about 4 months are probably "in the habit" of eating at night and probably don't know how to go back to sleep without feeding.
First, establish a bed time routine which includes putting the baby into the crib while he/she is full and drowsy, but not yet asleep. At night, keep any feeds as short, small and spaced out as possible.
