It's possible I may have misunderstood your question. You may have been asking about what kind of alcohol is used as a preservative in liquid homeopathic medicines, and I was telling you about the actual remedy. In preparing these medicines, materials must sometimes be dissolved in water or alcohol to begin the process. This is mechanical only, and it's no longer present in the dry dose. In liquid remedies, there may be a miniscule amount of alcohol (such as Everclear -- not wine) as a preservative, NOT an intoxicant. Here's a brief article about preparing homeopathic remedies: http://www.wholehealthnow.com/homeopathy_info/hahnemann_labs_preparation.html

This type of alcohol would be present in only miniscule amounts, and in the liquid preparations only. If used in dissolving the substance material, it would evaporate from the dry doses once they are impregnated with the medicine needed. Some cultures may be concerned about possible intoxicants in such remedies. But unlike botanical tinctures that may contain 40-60% alcohol in them, you're absolutely correct that liquid homeopathic remedies would contain this in minute quantity only.

This points to another differentiating feature between homeopathic medicines and botanical/nutritional supplements: homeopathic remedies come under FDA monitoring via the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States. They must meet criteria for safety and effectiveness before being presented to the public. While they may be very helpful to people, botanical and nutritional supplements are not monitored in this way -- and instead are regulated as foods. Thanks for your answer!
