In brief: Drink lots of fluids
The trick to passing a stone is to "wash it out" with lots of fluids.
Cranberry juice can possibly help by acidifying the urine and helping to pass the stone quicker. Just be aware that this can be very painful. If you start passing blood, get to the er right away!

In brief: Can be done
Increasing fluid intake, use of nsaids (like ibuprofen) and medications call Alpha blockers can potentially help you pass a stone.
Not everyone is a candidate so speak to urologist. Urgent treatment for fevers or ongoing pain. Nsaids aren't safe for everyone nor should be taken for a long time. Wouldn't let it go more than 4 weeks without intervention.
