How come stopping Ultram is so much worse then vicodin. No need for it now but very sick. 10 times worse then vicodin, didn't know I was dependent.?
Tramadol. Tramadol has agonism at the mu-type opioid receptor as well as reuptake inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine. Functionally, it is an opioid as well as an snri antidepressant. As such, opioid withdrawal (runny nose, muscle aches, headache, diarrhea) as well as snri withdrawal (buzzing, electrical brain sensation, anxiety, depression) occur. Takes a bit more time to wean down and stop.
Central Nervous Syst. It is most likely because it affects the central nervous system at several receptors, while the opiods are more selective.
