In brief: Cetirizine (Zyrtec)

Cetirizine (generic zyrtec), 2nd generation, minimally sedating type 1 antihistamine, one 10 mg tab at bedtime is most likely to be effective.
If the hives persist add ranitidine (generic zantac), a type 2 antihistamine, 150 mg twice a day should be tried as 20% of skin histamine receptors are type 2 receptors, so blocking type 1 & 2 receptors increases effectiveness. If hves continue see an md.
