My 4 yr old son has had a junky sounding cough off and on for about a month now. No other symptoms at all. Runs arounds, plays, no fever. Allergies?

In brief: Cough

There are certainly many causes for a prolonged cough.
But a cough lasting for a month should be seen by a physician to determine the cause and thereby treat it. Go see your doctor.

In brief: Chronic cough

There are multiple possible causes of a wet cough.
If he has nasal mucus this may cause post nasal drip. Removing the mucus gently with a bulb syringe and saline may help alleviate the cough. Allergies, cystic fibrosis, infection and reflux are other causes. If you notice certain triggers such as playing outside and exposure to pollen, this will help your doctor determine the work up.
