In brief: Part 2: Query fever

Though many patients get over the infection, some, if not treated, can go on to develop chronic q fever that can result in a heart infection.
Diagnosis is made by serology. Treatment is with Doxycycline though other antibiotics have been used including quinolones.

It may be found in cattle, sheep, goats and other domestic mammals, including cats and dogs.
