In general, when there is autoimmune thyroid disease in the family, the risk to family members is higher than that of the general population.
However, if you have grave's disease, that doesn't mean your child will get it even if thyroid disease develops. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is also seen within families who have someone affected with grave's disease.
