In brief: ASAP

Cold turkey asap.
The facts on smoking are well known. Why do you want to comit slow suicide? There is evidence that even paternal smoking can affect the outcome although it is obviously not predictable.

In brief: You decide

A smokers baby will be about a pound smaller. If they resume or expose baby to 2nd hand smoke, the baby will have 2-3X more respiratory illnesses & ear infections.
They will also have a higher risk of crib death. If they grow up in a smokers household they will think it is the norm & start to themselves. The time to stop is when you decide it is better for everyone.
