True hip osteoarthritis causes pain in the hip, groin and buttock esp.
W/ weight bearing. Occassionally in adults pain can be referred to the knee but this is unusual( unlike children where hip problems and knee referred pain is much more common).More commonly 'hip pain' in adults w/ concurrent pain to the knee is originating in the lumbar spine.
