In brief: Diagnosing MS

There is no one real good test for the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
In general, a comprehensive neurological examination and an imaging study of the affected area is the best first step. Need to discuss with your physician and also with the neurologist that you would be seeing.

In brief: Caveat

Ms remains a clinical diagnosis based upon history and exam, but confirmation is typically based on MRI imaging patterns and lesions in the brain mainly but on occasion in the neck.
Spinal fluid analysis is less often employed, but on occasion will further confirm the diagnosis.
