Are there some video games that are helpful to a child's development?

In brief: See below
Truthfully, no. Video games may aid in development of hand eye coordination, but not much else.
The videos, such as baby einstein, do not work.

In brief: Not the best way
Video games, tv and such are here to stay.
The biggest drawback is that they do not promote reciprocal social interaction, imaginative play, creativity or language used for conversation. Some may help eye-hand coordination and visual rote memory. Nothing replaces talking, reading and playing with your child and letting him play with peers. Two hours a day max of tv +video games is recommended.
