In brief: Depends...
Any dental cleaning does not have a time limit.
If you are at a periodontist...It means you have a more difficult case. To start with it may take 2 one hour appointments. It may take only and hour with heavy scraping. If you are diligent and follow the doctors directions and improve...Cleaning time may be reduced to 30 to 45 minutes. But i would say allow an hour after initial treatment. Earl.

In brief: Depends.
It is not important how long a periodontist or a dentist clean your teeth, but more important is the end result of your periodontal therapy.
A periodontist utmost responsibility is to preserve your teeth, your attachment apparatus (alveolar bone, cementum, and periodontal ligament) for a life time. His or her goal is to cure your disease or preventing the gum disease from happening.

In brief: Perio treatment
Your length of treatment time w/ a periodontist depends on what you r being treated for, and it's severity.
