Liver ALT test almost always on high end of normal reference range. Ct scan, ultrasound, hep test, ana, spep negative. Gastro said not to worry. Sometimes ALT is elevated over a few pts. More test?

Take it easy. Follow your doctor's advice. You may not need further testing. Just keep checking liver enzymes every six months to ensure all is well.
Some. Medications and fatty liver could increase levels, as well as alcohol consumption and high lipids.
Possibly significant. Alt can be a very sensitive indicator of hepatocellular damage, and it is more specific for liver injury than ast. With numbers within reference range you are clinically normal. Things other than alcohol that may cause low level increases in alt include early late or subclinical viral hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, chemical hepatitis, passive liver congestion, hemochromatosis, and cholangitis.
