In brief: Essentially none

Unless another poxvirus such as monkeypox mutates to be way more virulent.

In brief: Yes

The last US cases occurred in 1949 and the last wild case worldwide in 1977.
It is passed human to human with no insect or animal carriers. Since it has not been seen in 30+ yrs, return would signal some extraordinary event to bring it back.Unless things have changed, the remaining virus is kept in secure labs in the US/Russia &Great Britain. Should some fall in the wrong hands it would be an issue.
