In brief: Multifactorial
Fibromyalgia is a multifactorial consequence of hormonal, immune system and nervous system dysfunction resulting from genetic predispositions and dietary and environmental insults.
These factors impact your immune system and can lead to pain and inflammation. This is a metabolic disease amenable to metabolically directed treatments.

In brief: Disease of Brain/CNS
Fms is a disease of the central nervous system which relates to the body's inability to ignore normal pain and wear and tear.Treatment is directed to correcting normal brain chemistry.
Pain producing conditions still need to be addressed because they will be more intense than for a non-fms person.
