Chronic pain syndrom. Fibromyalgia is a chronic muscular pain syndrome wiht widespread muscular pain on both sides of the body, above and befow the belt. This is made worse by poor sleep and/or poor exercise and/or poor control of stress and psychological issues. It is associated in most patients by many tender myofascial pain sites in these locations.
Multifactorial. Fibromyalgia is a multifactorial consequence of hormonal, immune system and nervous system dysfunction resulting from genetic predispositions and dietary and environmental insults. These factors impact your immune system and can lead to pain and inflammation. This is a metabolic disease amenable to metabolically directed treatments.
Disease of Brain/CNS. Fms is a disease of the central nervous system which relates to the body's inability to ignore normal pain and wear and tear.Treatment is directed to correcting normal brain chemistry. Pain producing conditions still need to be addressed because they will be more intense than for a non-fms person.
