In brief: Can take them

Most multivitamins do not interact with or contradict birth control tablets.
However, in the unlikely event that your personal multivitamin contains st. John's wort, it could make your birth control pill less effective. Check the ingredients and see what's in there, and discuss with your doctor.

In brief: Wise to do, however:

It is wise to take a quality multivitamin with birth control pills; they increase need for b6, folic acid, zinc ; other nutrients.
See http://bit.Ly/1fm99af for details. However, 1 a day is not a good product- it has toxic additives like artificial colors, synthetic e (which is dangerous) forms of minerals that are poorly absorbed ; inadequate doses of b's. See http://bit.Ly/1b36cq0 ; my comment:.

Also, there is some suggestion that over 1000 mg of C a day can slightly raise estrogen levels for those on the pill so look out for estrogen-related side effects, but this is not likely to be clinically significant. For more on vitamins see http://bit.ly/18XyuLe The link in the first part gives independent ratings of 101 different multivitamins- any in the top 35 are great!
