In brief: Acyclovir

This antiviral compound can be effective in reducing the duration of acute herpetic outbreaks and in limiting the frequency of recurrences. See your doctor.

In brief: Herpetic stomatitis

Herpetic stomatitis (herpetic gingivostomatitis) is a viral infection that causes ulcers on the lips and in the mouth.
It usually runs it's course in 7-10 days. Check with your dentist for medication to put on the ulcers to allow eating more comfortably ( a bland diet is helpful), and for medication for pain (usually ibuprofen).
