In brief: Management/workup

If you have sudden chest pain and shortness of breath, with a family history of a PE, they should screen for a pulmonary embolism, and check for a DVT as well.
A V/Q scan is one test which may be ordered in your management. If diagnosed the management includes blood thinners.

And a CTA could be done as well. Do not delay for chest pain. Call 911 and get help.

In brief: Go to ER

You have sudden chest pain at the age of 30 years and you are short of breath.
You need to go to er and let the doctors decide what tests if any you need and stop making your own diagnosis. We don't know details of your history and i can tell you that without any risk factors it is very unlikely that you have pulmonary embolism if doctors in er feel you need a ct scan they will do it, only if indicat.

In brief: Depends on

Entire clinical picture, but from what you tell me, there is a good possibility that you might have pulmonary embolism.
Some of these could be fatal, so you should see a doctor immediately.

In brief: PE

The symptoms you list are certainly concerning in a person with a family pe history.
You should go and get checked out. A ct is a possibility if the dr. Feels it is indicated.
