In brief: In Heavens name WHY?
Glutamate activates NMDA receptors.
Neuronal receptors are proteins that float around in neurons' cell membranes. NMDA receptors are only about 1% of cerebral neuronal receptors but they are widely distributed throughout the entire brain. They play a part in long-term potentiation, which is believed to be one of the mechanisms of learning & memory. Why on EARTH would you want to neutralize that?

In brief: Mg, D3, Theanine, O3
Since calcium influx into brain cells is the primary mechanism that cause cell death from glutamate, it is necessary to block the glutamate (nmda) receptor with magnesium, vitamin d3, theanine from green tea & fish oil just to name a few.
