In brief: Statistically life

Population studies show an increase risk of cardiac and cerebrovascular events for patients with untreated hyperparathyroidism.
These events can increase morbidity and also mortality. Therefore, life expectancy is theoretically reduced. I would advise a 41 year old to get the condition fixed.

In brief: Normal with treatmen

Prathyroidism at age of 41 whether symptomatic or not needs to be treated with excision of the gland producing too much hormone after doing the scan of the glands After treatment is completed life expectancy will be normal and it will not be affected Discuss with his Endocrinologist

In brief: Lower unless treated

The bad news is that untreated hyperparathyroidism on average reduces life expectancy 5-6 years but the good news is that it is readily cured with an outpatient surgical procedure that takes about 20 minutes.
