How can I get my dr to properly test me for thyroid disorders? He only tested my TSH and t4. Refused to test free T3 (liothyronine) or free t4, or anything else.

No need for more. Tests. If your TSH and T4 are normal, you do not need more tests for thyroid function. Do you have any symptoms that make you feel that your thyroid function is abnormal? However, if you are not satisfied, you could see an endocrinologist or a different endocrinologist. Read more...
Thyroid disorders. If your TSH was normal, then it is extremely unlikely that there is anything wrong with your thyroid. The TSH represents your pituitary's "opinion" of your thyroid status, and that is more reliable than anything else. What makes you think you have a thyroid disorder? The symptoms of thyroid disorders are common symptoms of many other things. Read more...
Proper? Why do you think your physician didn't do "proper" testing? Just because more tests exist, doesn't mean they are needed or useful. Read more...

New bloodwork shows T3, (liothyronine) T4 completely in normal range. TSH not evaluated. What are chances Graves' disease in remish? Must TSH be tested to know?

Graves remission. Presumably you have Graves and have been treated with methimazole/PTU and now levels are normal, and you feel well. This may last for months/years, but usually hyperthyroidism reoccurs, or you become hypothyroid (gland burn out). A reocurrance of hyper is more likely if the Graves was initially severe (big gland, very high FT4 or T3, (liothyronine) high TSI, etc). Work with your Endocrinologist. Read more...

My T3 (liothyronine) and T4 are low value from normal range i.e. 0.63 and 6.51 and TSH is normal what can I do?

On your way to hypot. The TSH is inversely related to the free T4 and free t3;the fact that your TSH is normal when your free T4 is low tells me that your pituitary gland is not responding. You will have to probably go on some supplementation. See your doctor as soon as possible. Read more...

My TSH is 5.82 ml. But T3 (liothyronine) and T4 is under normal range. Is treatment is necessary for me?

Need more med,, Likely this means you need more thyroid replacement. This is why the TSH is high, but the T4 and t3 (liothyronine) are low. It would be a good idea to see your doctor for an adjustment of the thyroxine medication and a re-check of the thyroid readings to be sure the thyroid hormone is at normal levels. Best of luck. 26 yr old and 54 kgs on eltroxin 100 mcg from 2 mnth got tested then T3 (liothyronine) and T4 normal but TSH is 0.138. So what should I do?

Decrease dose. If I am reading this correctly, it looks like your TSH level was 0.138 while taking l-thyroxine 100 mcg daily. If this is correct, it means you are on too much and will need to decrease the dose, probably to 88 mcg daily. You should contact your doctor about this. Read more...

I don't understand, my dr. Said my free T3 (liothyronine) and T4 were in the normal range. But my TSH was 11.7 what does that mean.?

Hypothyroid. Subclinical hypothyroid. The thyroid is producing enough hormone but it is requiring more of the signaling hormone to do it. As long as the functional ones are within a normal range and you have no other symptoms, it can be watched, but it is worth following to make sure it remains stable. Read more...
