Certain diseases such as diabetes, certain medications such as corticosteroids can be factors. Trauma is also a possibility. Certain types of opacity tend to progress more rapidly. Since you are getting more nearsighted rapidly, it sounds like it is the center of your lens that is getting more cloud.
