In brief: No treatment

The mouth/throat is the primary portal of entry for germs in the body.
The variety of germs involved numerous but the only treatable one of importance is group A strep. Mono is a possible but requires a blood test which can be falsely negative early in the process and has no treatment anyway. If you remain sick after a week have a mono test if you want the info. Pharyngitis is the generic lable

In brief: Many causes

There are many different potential causes for sore throats.
While strep throat and mono are two of the most famous causes, there are many other more common viral (and some less common bacterial) infections which can cause sore throat. If your symptoms do not improve within the next few days or if it becomes increasingly difficult to swallow then you need to see a doctor for follow-up. Good luck!
