In brief: Yes you can

The er will prescribe antibiotics and a pain medication.
However, the abscessed tooth probably will not be treated and your child will be referred to a dentist for further treatment.

If your child is not in severe pain or having high fever, I recommend seeing family doc or pediatrician if your dentist is not immediately available. Antibiotic /pain medicine can be given while waiting to see your dentist. It very expensive to go to the ER for such a simple problem.

In brief: Yes, but

You can take them to the er but to be honest they will only give the child antibiotics and some pain med and say go see a dentist, so the best to to just go see a dentist and possibly they will be able to take it out (if baby tooth) as well to get relief and much faster healing.
It sounds like the child needs to be seen by a dentist either way though.

In brief: Sure

You certainly can, but a call to your dentist would be in order here.
Someone should exam your child asap.

In brief: Yes and no

If the infection is causing fever and severe pain, then go to a children's hospital.
If not, go to a kids dentist asap.
