I have a sore throat, headache, my neck also hurts. What's wrong with me?

Pharyngitis. It sounds as if you may be suffering from acute pharyngitis (infection of the back of the throat). The majority of the infections are caused by viruses but they can also be caused by bacteria, such as streptococcus. Not only do they cause pain in the throat, but they can cause other symptoms as well, such as fever, chills, headaches, generalized bodyaches (including back pain), cough, runny nose.

May be viral. Infection or strep, etc. For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Read more...

I have a bad headache neck aches n back aches sore throat diharria what is wrong?

Non-specific. These symptoms can be the result of a wide spectrum of illnesses. You don't say whether or not you have fever, where and how severe and whether relieved by otc meds the headache is, and there are many other questions that need answers. This sounds like a viral infection, but best to go to the doctor, get seen and examined thoroughly. Hope you are better soon. Read more...

Sore throat, posterior neck pain (sudden in onset)& headache x2wks. Last night woke up w/stabbing throat pain- still hurts, but less. No fevers. Ddx?

Doctor can examine. New throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat illness is bothersome (as in this case), coming with other symptoms (head and neck pain in this case) recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Teen had bad headache all day (thu) at school, then fever, vomited today (sat), now his chest hurts and neck hurts (no sore throat, cough, etc)?

Influenza? Sounds a lot like the flu. If his neck is stiff, (ie has trouble touching his chin to his chest without pain), he needs to be seen in the er immediately. If he has a rash or has been exposed to ticks, he needs to be seen. If he has friends or family who have been sick & he has none of the above danger signs, you could try some tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil, clear liquids and wait. Read more...
