Thumb base or the wrist are common conditions.
Prior trauma from a ligament injury or fracture can contribute in some cases even an injury many years ago and forgotten. Other problems may be gout, infection, and tendonitis can present with swelling on the wrist as well. Ice, splinting, nsaids that can be tolerated and an evaluation can help.

In brief: There is a realtionship
Treatment by be sequential, concurrent or independent depending upon your symptoms, all being equal i generally rx cts first if a choice must be made as ive seen trigger finger go away after ct is treated but 3 fingers may be too many to see this effect.
Injections, may help both at same time but careful with splinting that irritated the palm where the triggers are sensitive.

Swelling after a stroke may be due to loss of vascualr and motor tone.
Vasodilation and edema occur. Of course one could also fall asleep on the arm and get weakness and circulation impairment. And a compartment syndrome can be present... In either case, a stroke or falling asleep on your arm after being drunk or injured, seek attention.
