Is it normal to have a menstrual cycle that lasts longer than a month? I had a baby 6 months ago and am currently on the Depo-Provera birth control shot.

In brief: Depo bleeding

This isn't a period.
Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) works in part by thinning out the lining of your uterus often times to the point you have no period at all. Many women will have frequent bleeding, sometimes daily for the 1st 3 months or so on Depo-Provera provera.

In brief: Side effect

Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) can effect on your cycles.
Some women have irregular bleeding, some have no bleeding, others get normal periods while on depo. But whatever you experience, we do know that it's side effects can last for up to a year after the last injection. Remember that if you are late for a shot, you are not protected.
