In brief: Decalcification

What you describe is decalcification caused by plaque and the acids produced from the breakdown of food around your braces.
See a dentist to determine your restorative options. For small to medium areas, tooth colored bonded fillings are one option.

In brief: How sad

I'm sure that if you were seeing a qualified orthodontic specialist as well as having your teeth checked and cleaned regularly by your family dentist that you received complete oral hygiene instructions that you did not follow to the letter. Please see your dentist asap to have the damaged teeth (and probably gums) repaired, then follow all maintenance instructions.

In brief: Braces and stains

Many people are horrified to find white spots on their teeth when braces are removed.
This is caused by demineralization, and it usually occurs when you are unable to thoroughly clean under and around the brackets. If the demineralization is minor, the spots may fade on their own. Otherwise, they can be covered with a cosmetic treatment such as bonding or veneers.

In brief: HOMECARE

For many people it is a challenge to keep their teeth clean and helathy, introduce brackets and wires and bands and elastics and it can be a mess.
You need to step up your homecare, brushing, flossing where possible, using go-betweens, water pick, and a total care type mouthrinse that fights cavities. See your hygienist probably every 3 months during this time and ask questions about your care.
