Many differences.. Internists' are office or hospital based, mainly diagnose/treat patients w/ chronic diseases/disorders, focusing on preventative/maintenance medicine in adults ages 12 and up as well as geriatrics and hospice patients. Family doctors' treat a wide variety of patients including babies, kids, adults with a wider range of diagnostics and treatments including pediatric and ob/gynecologic ; internal.
Medicine. internal and general medicine are the same dealing with mostly 18 and above, while family medicine also involves pediatrics generally.
