In brief: COPD treatment

The most important thing you can do for COPD is to stop smoking.
Other treatments include inhaled medicines such as albuterol, ipratopium, tiotropium, and inhaled steroids (there are several of them). Patients who are very symptomatic benefit from systemic steroids and antibiotics. Make sure your immunizations are up to date including yearly flu vaccine. Finally, getting regular exercise helps.

In brief: Stop smoking if do

Stop smoking.
Stop breathing second hand smoke. There are inhalers like advair and spiriva that can help, plus an old drung, theophylline with inhaled steroids(in advair) can be very useful. Avoid all respiratory irritants, avoid high air pollution days outdoors.

In brief: Treatment...

Treatment of COPD usually begins with bronchodilator and steroid inhalers.
Smoking cessation, if you still smoke, is a vital part of your therapy to decrease ongoing airway inflammation. If your oxygen level is low enough, supplemental oxygen can be prescribed. Good luck!
