Numbness and hands and fingers are often from carpal tunnel (nerve trapped in wrist area) and ulnar nerver entrapment (in elbow groove).
Some case can come from pinched nerves in neck area, but usually have neck pain as well. Diabetic neuropathy can do that as well, but often involve feet first. Meds can do that as well, such as topamax/metronidazole/chemo..Etc.. Consult your doc.. Good luck.
