In brief: MILK REQUIREMENT

Goes down after 1 yr. Too much milk intake causes anemia.
12-24 months should consume 2 cups (each equals 8 ounces/300 mg calcium)/day. 2-8 years: 2-3 cups. Needs food rich in calcium to meet daily requirement (700 mg/day: 1 to 3 years, 1000 mg/day: 4 to 8 years). Variety of nutrient-dense foods from the basic food groups (milk/milk products, meat/protein, grains, fruits, vegetables) needed.

In brief: Breast milk is fine

Continuing breast milk is fine.
Other types of milk (cow milk, soy milk, etc..) are a poor source of iron when compared with breast milk. A toddler is bigger than a baby, and is still growing each day. He will need to eat a variety of solid foods, and choose some foods that contain iron... Which is normally what happens. Those breastfed toddlers who eat little solid food can become iron deficient.
