In brief: Eval with ultrasound

Not sure what treatments haven't worked but the best way to really determine what is snapping is with musculoskeletal ultrasound.
This can evaluate the tendon during whatever movement creates the snapping. Should also use ultrasound to guide injections into the bursa or to perform tenotomy.

In brief: Let me understand

You have to have a diagnosis first for your case the snapping coming from outside of the joint(hip) or from the inside of the hip joint.
If it is from the outside of the joint most of them treated with medicine, injection and stretching rarely surgery is needed. If it is from the inside of the joint most of the time they require surgery.

In brief: See specialist

If your DX is correct( internal snapping hip) see an ors who specializes in hip problems / hip arthroscopy.
Most case i've seen of internal snapping hip resolve basically w/ time( and pt / nsaids etc). Occasionally surgery may be indicated in recalcitrant cases. Make sure you see a specialist if possible who is familiar w/ int. Snapping hip syndrome and treatment. Best of luck!
