If you have a crying baby should you pick up the baby?

In brief: It depends.

If your baby isn't waking up during these episodes, they may be night terrors.
If so, the best things to do are to ensure there is nothing in the crib to can get hurt on, and keep him/her on a consistent sleep schedule. If she/he has a habit of waking and then crying, as long as there is no medical cause for this, it's best to see if your baby can go back to sleep alone. His/her doctor can advise.
