My baby has extra fluid in his body. If they drain some of that, will it return before delivery?

In brief: High risk monitoring
A fetus retaining extra fluid is caused by serious problems, either with mom's health, the transfer of blood & nutrients from mother to baby, or baby's health.
Treatments need to be monitored very closely by a perinatologist (high-risk OB specialist), and often need to be repeated. If the problem is severe, an early delivery may be needed to give baby treatments that can't be done in the womb.
