In brief: Infection

Chlamydia leads to pelvic infection and eventual scarring of the pelvic organs.
This in turn sets up a chronic state on inflammation in the pelvic causing scarring and poor healing in the area. The chronic nature of PID then leads to multiple problems such as pain, infertility, and ectopic pregnancy.

In brief: It is one cause!!!

Genital infection with chlamydia causes pid! it is important to treat infections asap, or pid will assuredly develop over time.
28% of unmarried females, and 26% of unmarried males are infected with chlamydia and are unaware! sexually active individuals are a significant risk and should know their partners well. Clearly associated with promiscuity, as is hiv, herpes, hep a and b, and hpv!
